Faeger Participates in ASEAN–Japan Symposium and Shares Progress of AWD Rice Methane Reduction Project in the Philippines
Faeger participated in the “ASEAN–Japan Symposium for Promoting Sustainable Agricultural Development,” held in Tokyo on November 25–26, 2025.
At the symposium, Kazuki Sakamoto, Faeger's Director of Southeast Asia Operations, delivered a presentation on Faeger’s ongoing initiative to reduce methane emissions in rice cultivation in the Philippines through the adoption of AWD (Alternate Wetting and Drying) water management practices. He shared updates on the implementation process, collaboration with local governments, research institutions, and Japanese companies, as well as progress in developing a project under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM).
The symposium brought together government representatives, research organizations, and private-sector participants from across ASEAN to discuss technology deployment and policy coordination for advancing sustainable agriculture in the region.
In the Philippines, Faeger will continue working with partners such as the Yanmar Group to pursue solutions that achieve both decarbonization and improved agricultural productivity, contributing to enhanced food security in the region.
