Faeger Event Report: Participation at DeCarbon Tokyo 2025
Faeger Co. Ltd. participated in DeCarbon Tokyo 2025 on December 3–4, where CEO Takahiro Ishizaki and R&D Manager Shizuka Funayama contributed to discussions on agriculture-based decarbonization.
The conference brought together policymakers, corporations, financial institutions, and innovators to explore GX-ETS, J-Credit, JCM, VCM developments, and emerging CDR technologies shaping carbon markets in Asia and beyond.
Presenting an agriculture-first approach
Faeger introduced an approach in which improvements in agricultural practices generate GHG reductions as co-benefits, which can then be certified as carbon credits.
Examples include:
-improved water management in rice cultivation,
-farmer-friendly MRV design,
-collaboration with municipalities and producers,
-use of biochar to enhance soil carbon stocks.
This perspective led to constructive conversations with participants who are interested in developing credible carbon credits grounded in real agricultural contexts.

Throughout the event, several experts — including leaders from South Pole — shared encouraging feedback on Faeger’s agriculture-first approach.
They particularly appreciated the practical and collaborative way in which improvements in farming practices are linked to the creation of carbon credits.
Faeger is grateful for these comments and will continue working to develop credible, field-driven models that connect agriculture and decarbonization in meaningful ways.
Our commitment going forward
Faeger will continue advancing efforts related to methane reduction in rice farming, further exploration of biochar as a carbon removal pathway, ongoing improvements in farm-level MRV practices, and the development of technologies that strengthen the resilience and sustainability of agricultural systems.
Our goal is to bridge farmers, science, policy, and carbon markets to ensure climate action delivers value for both communities and the environment.
