Faeger Selected for JICA Biz FY2025 Program
Faeger Co. Ltd. has been selected for the FY2025 “SME/SDGs Business Support Program (JICA Biz)” administered by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Under this program, Faeger will conduct a Needs Assessment Survey on the promotion of Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) for rice cultivation utilizing the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) in Indonesia.
Through this survey, Faeger will examine the feasibility of contributing to sustainable rice production by implementing comprehensive improvements in rice farming practices, including water management through AWD, combined with the provision of direct additional income for farmers through carbon credits.
In addition to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions from paddy fields through AWD adoption (a climate change mitigation measure), the survey will also focus on identifying adaptation measures to address abiotic stresses such as drought and high temperatures caused by rapidly changing climate conditions.
By integrating climate change mitigation and adaptation approaches within rice production systems, this project aims to support improved productivity, enhanced farmer resilience, and long-term sustainability of rice farming in Indonesia.
