Faeger Selected for JICA Biz Program FY2025
— Needs Assessment Survey on Promoting Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) in Rice Cultivation under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) in Indonesia —
Faeger Co. Ltd. is pleased to announce that in December 2025, it was selected for the FY2025 “Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) and SDGs Business Support Program (JICA Biz)”, publicly solicited by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in September 2025.
The selected project is titled:
“Needs Assessment Survey on Promoting Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) in Rice Cultivation Utilizing the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) in Indonesia.”
Through this survey, Faeger will examine how a business model that combines improvements in rice cultivation practices—including the water management technique known as Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD)—with the creation of direct additional income for farmers through carbon credits, can contribute to the realization of sustainable rice farming in Indonesia.
In addition to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions from paddy fields through the introduction of AWD (as a climate change mitigation measure), the survey will also explore the potential of AWD as an adaptation measure to address abiotic stresses—such as drought and high temperatures—that are becoming increasingly evident due to climate change.
Through this initiative, Faeger aims to generate insights that contribute to improving rice productivity, strengthening farmer resilience, and ultimately promoting sustainable agriculture in Indonesia, from both climate change mitigation and adaptation perspectives.
