About the Position
Faeger is implementing a carbon credit project in the Philippines, promoting Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) rice cultivation to reduce methane emissions while safeguarding farmers' income. We are looking for a dedicated Field Specialist to help measure methane emissions, guide farmers in AWD techniques, and lead field trials aimed at optimizing practices and improving yields.

Key Responsibilities
1. Methane Emission Measurement in Rice Fields
Conduct field measurements of methane emissions using established methodologies.
Adapt measurement procedures to local field conditions while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Analyze collected data and contribute to the optimization of monitoring protocols.
Potentially train and supervise local personnel in measurement techniques in the future.
2. Technical Guidance on AWD Rice Cultivation
Provide practical guidance to farmers on implementing AWD techniques.
Collaborate with partner organizations to develop and recommend operational procedures that minimize the risk of yield loss due to water stress.
Support farmers in troubleshooting and adapting practices during drought-like conditions.
3. Research, Development, and Knowledge Dissemination
Assess existing local farming methods and propose innovations to enhance productivity and profitability.
Design and conduct field trials to test new ideas.
Work with leading agricultural research institutions in the Philippines to analyze results and potentially co-author academic publications.
Develop training materials and deliver capacity-building programs for farmers and stakeholders.
Act as a trainer for Training of Trainers (ToT) programs using developed materials.
4. Stakeholder Engagement and Program Coordination
Build strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including government officials, local agencies, extension workers, cooperatives, and farmers.
Promote the project’s benefits and ensure alignment with local needs and conditions.
Lead coordination efforts to scale up the initiative and customize technical solutions for different regions.
Required Qualifications
At least 5 years of experience in rice farming or providing agricultural extension services in the Philippines.
Strong interest in carbon credit systems and environmental sustainability.
Current residency in the Philippines.
Preferred Qualifications
Passion for improving local communities through climate-smart agriculture.
Interest in contributing to academic research and co-authoring publications
