Support for the Establishment of a Gas Chromatography Laboratory at PhilRice
 — Strengthening the Foundation for Decarbonized Agriculture under the JCM Framework —

Faeger Co. Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; CEO: Takahiro Ishizaki; hereinafter “Faeger”) has supported the establishment of a Gas Chromatography (GC) Laboratory at the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice).

This laboratory is equipped with advanced analytical capabilities to measure greenhouse gases such as methane (CH₄), nitrous oxide (N₂O), and carbon dioxide (CO₂) with high precision. It represents a significant enhancement of research infrastructure not only in the Philippines but also across the ASEAN region, contributing to climate change mitigation and the development of sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.

Faeger is actively promoting Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) practices and developing carbon credit projects aimed at reducing methane emissions from rice cultivation in the Philippines. In December 2025, Faeger entered into a credit purchase agreement under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) with Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd.. The establishment of this laboratory further reinforces the foundation of these initiatives.

Through the utilization of this laboratory, Faeger aims to enhance the scientific validation of emission reductions achieved through AWD and further strengthen the Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) framework, contributing to the generation of high-integrity carbon credits.
Faeger will continue to collaborate with research institutions such as PhilRice and other partners to promote both decarbonization and productivity improvement in agriculture, contributing to the sustainable development of farming communities.
